The Maze Runner is the first book in a science fiction series set in the dark post-apocalyptic setting by James Dashner. This novel was published on October 6, 2009 by Delacorte Press, the company of Random House, and was adapted by 20th Century Fox as a movie of the same name in 2014.

Thomas wakes up in a metal box that has brought him to a place called Glade. He couldn’t remember his memories and how he got to this place. He gradually learns about this place and discovers that Glade is governed by two boys: the leader Alby and Newt, who are in charge of maintaining peace and maintaining order by applying strict rules. Elevator cabs from the ground each week provide food, tools and sometimes weapons. Every month a boy with unknown memories searches for himself in that elevator chamber. The Trang is covered in four square corners by a mile-high concrete wall. Outside the main wall is the labyrinth, the concrete walls in this matrix are surrounded by ivy that can change positions every day. The maze contains very strange and deadly creatures known as Grieves. The melancholy urchin is described as an amorphous monster made of metal and meat. The people living in Trang tried to survive and solve the maze by exploring it as quickly as possible while watching the wall’s movement and finding a way out.
