The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by writer John Boyne writes about the journey of a 9-year-old boy, Bruno. Although it is not really for a 9 year old child to read. Because the plot is a series of experiences, a way to enlighten the young thinking of the main character, but also a bitter lesson for adults to look back at themselves and their fellow humans.
Background story takes place in Germany, in the second world war is taking place fiercely. Bruno’s life before the event was very peaceful with his loving mother and dignified officer father. Then one day, Hitler visited that peaceful home, promoted the boy’s father, and then they were forced to move, to an area called “Out-with”.
The day he arrived at his new place, Bruno was very sad because he missed the kids in his old class, he missed the times he was running around playing in the magnificent streets. Here, the boy was forbidden from leaving the house, closely watched, had no friends, and had a private tutor coming to his house to teach. However, (again) one day, Bruno sees in the distance a “farm”, and the boy’s journey begins here.
