In 1962, the novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest PDF by young writer Ken Kesey was released and aroused the wave of American literature. The story of the rebellion of mental patients quickly became a phenomenon that attracted the attention of the whole society including the filmmakers. The first person to be fortunate to buy the book’s copyright rights is a movie star, Kirk Douglas.
He loved the story so much that he took on the lead role (Randall McMurphy) in his Broadway play. Later, when he ceded the copyright of the book to his son Michael Douglas to make the film, he did not intend to cede that favorable role to others.
