Fire and Blood
“Fire and Blood” takes place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones. The book opens with Aegon the Conqueror, the first Targaryen king of Westeros, who conquered Westeros with his siblings, and extends to Aerys II, the King of the Crazy, whom GOT fans will easily recognize – it is. father of Daenerys and last king of the Targaryen family.
This book is written as a chronicle of the Game of Thrones universe, which according to its content is the author Archmaester Gyldayn, written in the style of “The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire”. by Edward Gibbon – which is an excellent history book but not very entertaining. It is 700 pages long, making the reading experience feel like groping for a school history book, except that none of the details are real.
However, this is not necessarily an issue that could discourage filmmakers. The events in “Fire and Blood” were, in theory, very compelling: the Aegon’s dragon conquest, the succession crisis, the dragon-versus-dragon civil war “The Dance of Dragons”, … But HBO will have to make changes that require careful consideration of the style and color of this “dry, non-dire” book if you want to get a hit TV show.
There is also the issue of what later Targaryen years (which Martin has yet to write) will obviously overlap with the current series, making it feel like an unnecessary prequel. are “haunting” brands like Star Wars and Harry Potter.
